The Pike’s Peak Hillclimb is one of the most interesting events on the calendar for Colorado. This year UK team were the ones aiming to beat the 10 minute barrier, with the aid of quality drivers and a quality machine.

The team in question is the Mach 2 Racing team, who are based in Essex. They have modified and adapted a Ford RS200 rally car, making it suitable for the terrain and duration of the hill climb. It uses wide bodywork which creates a downward force, allowing it to grip more than any car on the circuit.
The circuit itself actually consists of just less than 12 miles. Drivers and co-drivers need to negotiate their machines to ensure that they get round all 156 corners, and finish up 5,000 feet higher than where they started!

If you are thinking you have access or own a RS200 and might be able to enter, it probably isn’t as powerful as this one, so don’t bother. This modified version produces 950bhp if they run it on regular petrol. Of course, they do have the option of the Nitro power, which gives it a full 1150bhp, which is truly ridiculous. Even the quality of Avon tyres struggle with the immense strain they are put under!
